Principal - Thomas Trudeau

Thomas Trudeau is a registered architect, certified Passive House designer, and heritage consultant with over 20 years' experience across Australia and the United Kingdom.

His professional background encompasses strategic heritage advice, statutory reporting, material conservation, and the technical resolution of construction and compliance issues on heritage-listed properties across commercial, cultural, institutional, and mixed-use projects.

Thomas has a detailed understanding of NSW and Commonwealth heritage frameworks, and has acted as the nominated heritage consultant on numerous major projects including adaptive reuse developments, hotel and hospitality projects, and infrastructure works affecting heritage assets.

Prior to Studio Trudeau, Thomas served as Associate Director at Urbis, a major planning and heritage consultancy in Sydney. Earlier career experience includes senior roles at BDP (London), where he jointly led the £160 million (A$250 million) refurbishment of the Grade II-listed Old Admiralty Building in Whitehall, London—a landmark 21,000m² adaptive reuse project.

Thomas has taught in the faculty of architecture at both the University of Sydney and the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) since 2015. He continues research into sustainability issues including embodied carbon and material reuse in heritage contexts.
